Currently, the nuts in our Oregon Hazelnut Fudge are supplied by Oregon hazelnut growers, which include the nuts grown by our Uncle Mike. Also, we are working towards using Scott's blueberries as the swirl in the Blueberry Cheesecake. These unique attributes take us a step above our competitors when it comes to a truly local, sustainable, family business.

As part of our efforts in respecting the land, our cows, and the natural environment, Uncle Buzz, who runs the dairy, is working on a project to install a methane digester. This anaerobic digester will convert methane, produced from the manure, into enough electricity to power about 200 homes in Lane County. This will significantly reduce the emission of greenhouse gases from our farm. These efforts will better serve our environment, community, and farm, further proving our commitment to a sustainable system.

At Lochmead, our family's passion for local, sustainable living extends beyond the farm and plant and into our community. Together with our Dari Mart stores, we have made contributions to a number of local organizations including the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life), Children's Miracle Network, Food for Lane County, Meals on Wheels, and various youth programs over the years. As members of our community we also provide over 500 stable jobs for hard working families.

As a member of Quality Chekd Dairies, a national dairy audit association, our milk bottling and ice cream plant has earned a "Superior" rating in 2008, 2009, and 2010. This seal of approval confirms the standards that we require of ourselves and proves to you that our milk and ice cream meet the highest quality criteria.

Today, Cousins Scott, Chris, Stephanie, Kimberly, Kathy, Kurt, and Joe work in designated areas of the farm, dairy, processing plant, and Dari Mart stores. Our Aunts, Elizabeth and Janet, have played important roles promoting and marketing our businesses, and continue to be the positive voice of our products. Thanks to our Grandfather and Uncles' drive, our family is proud to have our milk and ice cream supporting the health, wellbeing, and happiness of Lane, Linn, and Benton Counties through our local Dari Mart Stores.
